I just finished making spring labels for a an incentive that I am going to do with the students for the month of April--> Easter/Earth Day. I went everywhere looking for inexpensive baskets to get. I ended up finding 20 at Walmart for $1 each. Then to find out the dollar tree had 2 for a $1 but they were much smaller. I I usually ask each student to bring in their own basket for Easter, but this year since I thought about it with enough time, I went ahead and bought a basket for each student.
I will bring out the baskets April 1st! I am going to use them during the month of April as a "FILL THE BUCKET" activity daily. I have seen lots of neet ideas on "What the Teacher Wants".
Today I had the opportunity to attend FESTIBA--> http://coah.utpa.edu/festiba/ (The Festival of International Books and Arts) at The University of Texas Pan American (Edinburg, TX). "Reading Along the Rio Grande Valley"
There was a round table discussion about Literacy and Illiteracy in our area and what we can do to reduce the percentage of illiterate people in our society. Many strategies and resources were provided!
I thought I would share! :)
Mr. Matthew Gollub (children's author and story teller was in attendance and was an awesome story teller and author!) His books are very unique with not only song and rythm but with a mix of the English and Spanish Language, with a play on words. http://matthewgollub.com/---> There are some Free Literacy downloads here as well.
These are two of the books that I actually got to take home today.
Here are some great websites that I learned about today for Literacy: (If you know anymore please share :)
I am a currently an Instructional Facilitator in Harlingen Tx, and I love my JOB! I have found some awesome resources on various blogs and thought I would broaden my horizons and create one of my own. I love researching for upcoming lesson and themes and I love creating my own word & powerpoint documents to use in my classroom. My goal is to provide as many resources that I can for teachers to help their students be successful and provide differentiated instruction. I love collaborating and sharing new ideas! Sharing is Caring:)
